Darwin Harbour Clean-Up 2012

The third annual Darwin Harbour Clean-Up is happening on Thursday July 12th. Last year over a tonne of rubbish was collected around the harbour including 63 thongs, 4500 plastic bags, 5200 aluminium cans and 1700 plastic drink bottles. Will we see a reduction this year? Teams will be out in boats on the water between Fishermen's Wharf and Hudson Creek, and at Rapid Creek. Land crews will be collecting from the coastline between Casuarina and Nightcliff, at Coconut Grove, on Fishermen's Wharf and at several sites on Cox Peninsula. To find out how you can be involved or for more information call Lyn at the Northern Territory Seafood Council on 8981 5194. Darwin Harbour Clean-Up is organised by the Northern Territory Seafood Council and OceanWatch Australia's SeaNet Program through funding from the Australian Government's Caring for our Country and Territory Natural Resource Management's Coastcare Program.
